Owners: Victoria and Bob Moos

Victoria and Bob are thrilled to be the new owners at Academic Trainers! They are no strangers to education and the various requirements and demands of the ever-evolving academic pressures. Their individual, diverse experiences, with varied learning styles and neuro-diverse students, give them a great platform to provide even more for the AT tutors and their pupils!

 

Bryce attended Santa Clara University and graduated with an English Literature major and a History minor. He has always had an equal love of reading and writing fiction, which he fulfilled with his emphasis in Creative Writing. He has also studied Spanish and French and traveled to France and England twice. Bryce likes to make the humanities as easy and interesting as he can for students of all ages!

Maria attended Notre Dame de Namur University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry. She plans to go to medical school once she has completed her pre-med certification. Maria loves reading, painting, dancing, and inventing new recipes! Maria is a seasoned traveler and has been to exciting places like France, China, and Japan.

Mary attended San José State University and graduated with a Design Studies major and Philosophy minor. She fell in love with words at a young age and loves to use them with precision, not only writing her own short stories and poetry but also volunteering her skills as an editor to other hobbyist writers. After college she served with Americorps in Montana, assisting a child-oriented nonprofit with messaging and outreach. In her spare time, she keeps busy with reading, writing, drawing, and all manner of creative multimedia pursuits. She gets a kick out of helping students visualize complex concepts in new ways, and she likes to use memory tricks drawn from cognitive psychology research to help make key ideas stick.

Stephanie earned her BA in Intensive Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is experienced in tutoring math, language arts, social studies, the humanities, writing, and grammar. She strives to be a positive role model and supporter of K-12 students by being a listening ear, a knowledgeable resource, and a collaborator for problem solving. Stephanie avidly enjoys reading, running, and cooking. For the long term, she aspires to a career within the field of school psychology.

Rex attended UC Davis where he earned a BS in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. As a tutor, Rex encourages his students to explain the concept to him before working through example problems and figuring out a method for solving them. Rex enjoys photography, playing golf, and tinkering with computers and other electronics. He aspires to be a medical doctor and obtain a MA or PhD in Neuroscience or Psychology.

Marissa graduated from the University of California, Berkley, where she majored in Mathematics and is currently remotely finishing a Master’s degree in Mathematical Logic from Université Diderot Paris 7. Marissa has over 5 years of one-on-one tutoring experience and is dedicated to learning each student’s unique style and providing them with the understanding of mathematical concepts that are necessary for success both in the classroom and out in the real world. Marissa really enjoys reading, in particular poetry, fictional works, and philosophical pieces. Her career ambitions include earning a PhD in Logic and Philosophy of Mathematics to perform research and making the changes necessary to improve the standard mathematics curriculum.

Stewart is currently attending Santa Clara University and working towards a degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Biotechnology. Because organic chemistry is his favorite subject, he plans on going to medical school or pursuing a career in industrial chemistry once he completes his degree at Santa Clara University. Stewart likes to read long stories of fiction, play guitar, surf and prepare delicious meals for his housemates while off the clock.

Nathan is currently attending University of California, Santa Cruz and is working towards a degree in Applied Physics with a minor in Chemistry. Because of his love for math and science, he intends to pursue a graduate degree in Physics or Applied Mathematics after graduating. At UC Santa Cruz, Nathan has held positions such as group tutor for chemistry, student success intern, and peer mentor. Nathan likes to play tennis, ultimate frisbee, and PC games in his free time.
