Owners: Victoria and Bob Moos

Victoria and Bob are thrilled to be the new owners at Academic Trainers! They are no strangers to education and the various requirements and demands of the ever-evolving academic pressures. Their individual, diverse experiences, with varied learning styles and neuro-diverse students, give them a great platform to provide even more for the AT tutors and their pupils!

 

Lead Training Coordinator: Kendra Srivastava

Kendra holds a BA in English from Luther College as well as an ESL Teaching Certificate from Seattle University. She has several years’ tutoring experience and loves helping students learn. In her spare time, Kendra loves practicing yoga, biking, traveling, and reading. She is dedicated to making Academic Trainers the best tutoring center for your students’ needs!

Lead Training Coordinator: Katie Gustin

Katie earned a BA in Communication from Marquette University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Katie is passionate about language/foreign language, writing and literature. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, exploring the Bay Area, studying Portuguese, reading and journaling, and playing folk music. She is happy to be here to help the students, families and staff at AT!

 

Bryce attended Santa Clara University and graduated with an English Literature major and a History minor. He has always had an equal love of reading and writing fiction, which he fulfilled with his emphasis in Creative Writing. He has also studied Spanish and French and traveled to France and England twice. Bryce likes to make the humanities as easy and interesting as he can for students of all ages!

Catherine earned her BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a minor in Art from Michigan State University. She has many years of teaching experience in a wide range of subjects, from history and English to science and math. She has multiple years of doing test prep for the ACT and SAT. She absolutely loves teaching and challenging her students to grow. She is an avid traveler, reader, chef and foodie!

Huy attended California State University East Bay and graduated with a BS in Mathematics. He is experienced in tutoring math. He strives to teaches students to be excellent in math. In his spare time, Huy loves to read light novels and play strategy games.

Maria attended Notre Dame de Namur University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry. She plans to go to medical school once she has completed her pre-med certification. Maria loves reading, painting, dancing, and inventing new recipes! Maria is a seasoned traveler and has been to exciting places like France, China, and Japan.

Mary attended San José State University and graduated with a Design Studies major and Philosophy minor. She fell in love with words at a young age and loves to use them with precision, not only writing her own short stories and poetry but also volunteering her skills as an editor to other hobbyist writers. After college she served with Americorps in Montana, assisting a child-oriented nonprofit with messaging and outreach. In her spare time, she keeps busy with reading, writing, drawing, and all manner of creative multimedia pursuits. She gets a kick out of helping students visualize complex concepts in new ways, and she likes to use memory tricks drawn from cognitive psychology research to help make key ideas stick.

Stephane attended Cal Poly Ponoma and graduated with a BS in Applied Mathematics. He teaches mathematics at all levels through Calculus and is great with Statistics as well. He enjoys playing sports like soccer, basketball, and especially ultimate frisbee, which he played professionally for the Los Angeles aviators. He loves watching movies and stand-up comedy shows, and he has even performed stand-up comedy at open mic nights.

Stephanie earned her BA in Intensive Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is experienced in tutoring math, language arts, social studies, the humanities, writing, and grammar. She strives to be a positive role model and supporter of K-12 students by being a listening ear, a knowledgeable resource, and a collaborator for problem solving. Stephanie avidly enjoys reading, running, and cooking. For the long term, she aspires to a career within the field of school psychology.

Rex attended UC Davis where he earned a BS in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. As a tutor, Rex encourages his students to explain the concept to him before working through example problems and figuring out a method for solving them. Rex enjoys photography, playing golf, and tinkering with computers and other electronics. He aspires to be a medical doctor and obtain a MA or PhD in Neuroscience or Psychology.
