Academic Group Trainings at Academic Trainers

Summer 2019

Our Group Class Goals

Our classes are specifically designed with targeted end goals in mind.  Hence, each class is a small group to achieve the following:

  • Focused instructional attention through working with our talented instructors in a small group to make room for individual help

  • Teaching each student or help them become aware of their learning strengths and challenges, in order to capitalize on them strategically, and to develop skills in all areas of their academics

  • Providing and teaching peer leadership

  • Supporting and creating collaboration and community

We have highly talented instructors who not only know their subjects well but also have strong intentions to infuse their delightful personalities and creative approaches to produce results that the students can take away and use beyond our session.

Here at Academic Trainers, we’re not kill and drill. We’re about teaching confidence and success through our strategic intentions of coaching in perseverance, discipline and creativity. This goes way beyond the traditional academic support.

Group Class Details

  • 9am-noon, noon-1pm (lunch break), 1pm-4pm, and 4pm-6pm

  • Classes are one week long OR two weeks long

  • Each instructor specializes and is equipped to teach in their particular group class

  • Parents will receive a ‘progress’ report after each week detailing skills learned, skills to continue to practice, and strategies and findings that show how each student can benefit from this class for overall purposes of learning

  • Depending on the class (see below for more details about the camps that we will be offering) students will have various completed projects and products that they can keep after the class is completed.

WHY CHOOSE THESE ACADEMIC TRAINING GROUP CLASSES?

  1. SMALL GROUP: We create productive intensity to offer specialized instruction by capable instructors. Because of this, our group sizes will be very small—between 4 to 10 students!

  2. WEEKLY OR 2 WEEKS: Studies show that a brain needs time to rest and recover in order to retain and produce excellent work. Independent work will be given to the students to practice skills in addition to the classes. We’ve decided not to do long extended weeks so students can catch a break given the intensity of the classes, and it gives families the opportunity to take summer breaks together without the risk of missing a class or session!

  3. COMMUNITY/PEER INTELLIGENCE: Study after study shows that social interaction and peer teaching provides and excellent platform for the student to learn, develop, and display leadership—a huge success factor for excelling in education!
