A.T. - Academic Trainers… a team! Your team! From the front desk scheduling, rescheduling, following up with appointments, to trainers who plan, prepare, and invest in your child. Together, our entire team at A.T., works together to do our best, to provide the best for your child, and you. Get focused. Join our team. Let us train you.
Our tutors (trainers) are capable to train in different subjects and grades. Our team can support your child in homework, strengthen academic needs, and even introduce them to advanced studies (if they are ready for this). We teach one-to-one, small groups (4-6) and 2-3 students at a time. We start with TK to get them ready academically and socially, and continue to support students up to AP high school classes. And we can even help with various test prep sessions! In order to offer your child our best trainings, we ask that you give us as much academic information as you can. This helps us to pair you with the right tutor, and we inform the tutor what to focus on and if there are any special needs. The more info you provide, the better we can provide! We look forward to helping your child! Thank you for your interest in our amazing team!
SMALL GROUP CLASSES: (during the year)
This is an intensive, specific topic/subject and/or intervention class that focuses on solidifying and strengthening a specific area of study. Please join our email list so that you can be notified when these classes are posted and you may sign up. Classes are: 4-6 students, 4 or 8 sessions (depending on the tutor and subject). These are offered in the fall, winter and spring.
Many of our trainers have had to take various entrance exams so they not only understand what kids are being tested on, but they also understand the pressure of these tests! Our trainers will not only coach your child on skills needed to prepare for the test, but also empathize and coach them on how to manage the stress of preparing and taking this test, build/rebuild their confidence and help them regain focus. We look forward to helping your child do their best for their test, but to also feel confident about themselves no matter what the end score is. We believe in them because they give their best, and we’re here to support them!
Our 30 minute consultation sessions are designed to give you uninterrupted time with the tutor. Please send in your questions in advance (up to 48 hours) so that tutor can be prepared to answer them and you can go into further discussions during the 30 minutes. A summary of your discussion, outlined approach and resources (if necessary), will be emailed to you within 24-48 hours. Our trainers are dynamic and can offer guidance with study skills/organization approach, test prep information (depth beyond the sessions), and plans for how and where you may need your child to academically grow! As a team, we’re here to team with you! Please call or email the front desk to set an appointment.
After-School Homework Club - Mondays thru Thursdays, 3p-5:30p and 6-8:30pm
Our newest family member… after school homework club! But as we’re calling it, Cafe A.T.! This is designated for students to come to our center to get work done independently. We will begin this program September 3rd, 2019, and it will run Mondays through Thursdays on a weekly basis. There will be no Cafe A.T. during holiday breaks (and reminder- Monday through Thursdays only). Please see the Prices page for our costs (at the bottom of the sheet).
If you would like a safe, monitored academic support space with a shared tutor to help, check us out! Whether your student has access to this service for the month or is walking in for the day, your child can have one free healthy snack and beverage during their time at our homework club, offered through Academic Trainers. Students can also purchase more snacks if they’d like and per parents’ approval, students may have an account for purchasing these snacks. We will share more details as to what snacks we will be offering in Mid-August 2019.
The Process: (please see our registration form for more details):
First and foremost, please make sure that you and your students are currently on our roster as clients. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Complete and submit the registration form and payment by the 23rd prior to the month you are registering your student for the Cafe A.T.
A few notes:
Students will be required to sign in once they arrive and check off what they’d like to have for snack and beverage.
Due to a larger group environment, it is encouraged that students are self-motivated and have positive behavior.
We have a ‘no tolerance’ rule and we will ask students to get picked up if they are disruptive, not polite, and do not work well in an open group environment.
Students are permitted to use their electronic devices to listen to audio or to watch videos as long as it is not disruptive to other attendees.
We have a maximum seating space of 25 students during our Afternoon Cafe A.T. and 30 students during our Evening Cafe A.T.
If students complete their daily homework, we will have extra books they can read; coloring activities; fun, learning games that they can quietly play together or alone. All extra activities encourage both left and/or right, hemisphere incorporation.
Afternoon Cafe A.T. (3:00 PM to 5:30 PM):
Students can come at 3p and leave at 5:30p, but Cafe begins at 3:30p and ends at 5:30pm, where a trainer will check-in and support the attendees between 3:30 and 5:00pm. they will be supervised by our front desk staff during the other times. While the afternoon session is intended for 3rd through 8th grade students, high school students are also welcome to attend. A maximum of 25 students may attend this afternoon session each day it is offered.
Evening Cafe A.T. (6:00 PM to 8:30 PM):
The evening session is intended for high school students to attend, but middle school students between the 6th and 8th grades are also welcome. A shared tutor will be available to assist students as needed (from 6:30-8:30p). If your student completes their homework earlier, they are more than welcome to stay and get ahead on homework, ask for help with another subject, or just relax and read a book. Again, the Cafe is designed to be a safe, monitored place, where students can also get some help. A maximum of 30 students may attend this evening session each day it is offered.
Educational Empowerment for Parents (EEP)
It takes a Power Team to provide success for our students! This includes our front desk team (who does so many essential tasks), the trainers, parents, and other educators. A new goal, a very important goal, is to offer our parents and local educators more resources, introduce them to various/new, academic support programs, and give them the latest information we can, to help your child/student succeed. We’ll be providing these in the fall and the new year. Please contact our front desk to let them know you’d like to be added to our email list and we will keep you posted for these dynamic events!
